Life is well

We've been spending the last 5 months settling into our new home. Its amazing how moving out of state really takes it out of you. We love our new home, our ward and our town. We are just a stones throw away from Albuquerque. The scenery is stunning and the food is delicious. But this heat. Gah! I don't like being warm and here its pretty much hot day and night. That will take some getting used to, I suppose.

The kids have adjusted well to school and have made a lot of friends. Luckily, they have some great friends right across the street, so that makes the summer a little bit less hectic for me since they aren't whining that they are bored.

We have kept busy going out to see the sights and exploring so many things New Mexico has to offer. We have visited ancient Indian ruins that rest just a golf course away from a casino (seriously, you can't   make this stuff up). We have seen long-inactive volcanoes. We went to Jemez Indian Reservation a few weeks ago and what a change from the usual NM landscape! There were trees and water! We have already been to the zoo, aquarium and botanic gardens. We drove up to the east side of Albuquerque and were about to get out of the car and do some hiking until we saw that "watch out for rattle snakes" sign. We opted to just drive.

Justin's office had a staff appreciation party in June and we got to go to an Isotopes game. Even though we got rained on, almost got pummeled with a ball, dropped a $6 hot dog and had to apologize to the old lady who was the victim of Emmett throwing wet cotton candy. We will for sure be going to more games!

When we left Utah we said that we had to go all in. New Mexico was our new home and we couldn't think of Utah as home anymore. If we do this, we do this 100%. While we miss our families, we don't miss our old home.

I took the boys for a quick weekend visit at the beginning of June while Justin stayed home and worked. Other than running over a massive snake, the ride there was quick. Well as quick as an 11 hour ride can be with a 6, 4 and 3 year old. We were there for 3 nights and we brought my mom back with us. She flew home 2 days later and it was nice for her to be able to see the house and the area. She, my sister and her girlfriend are coming back in October for the Balloon Festival.

Dade is just a few weeks out from his 7th birthday. To celebrate, we are going to Disneyland for 5 days! Thats not so much for the birthday as it is a getaway. Justin hasn't taken any time off since February, we've had a wild 7 months and we all just need a break. We haven't been since we got married in 2003 so to say we are excited is an understatement!

Pictures to come eventually. Honestly I don't know why I keep this blog....but I guess there are a few lurkers out there so I may as well update, even if it's not often.
